Juror’s Statement
Thank you to all those who took a risk to put themselves out there with their photomontage artwork. I truly appreciate the courage it takes to enter a juried exhibition. As the juror, I was honored to review the many submissions. I always learn and grow as an artist as I study the work of others. This exhibition provided that opportunity, for which I am thankful. I am particularly grateful to the entrants who shared their work during covid times.
Creating photomontage is much more than a mechanical process. Rather, creating photomontage is expressing a personal vision or story in a unique way. The outcome is often one with an element of surprise, beauty, or unfinished story.
For the first place selection for the Exhibition Gallery, I was drawn to the exquisite image of diaphanous flowers, butterflies, and animals of varying shapes and muted colors, all set against the dark mountainous landscape. This view is a good reminder to look closely at what is underneath our feet, even when the mountains loom above above us.

Call for Entries
A photomontage tells a story by combining separate elements into a single composite image, creating a moment that never existed in reality, but one that suits the maker’s artistic vision.
For this call for entries, we seek photomontage images of any subject. All capture and post processes are welcome.
We are very pleased that Tom Chambers will jury this exhibition. Tom will select 40 images for exhibition in our Middlebury, Vermont gallery and another 40 for our Online Gallery. All 80 images will be reproduced in the exhibition catalog.

About the Juror
Photographer Tom Chambers was raised in the Amish farm country of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Tom completed a B.F.A. in 1985 from The Ringling School of Art, Sarasota, Florida majoring in graphic design with an emphasis in photography. Since 1998 Tom has exhibited photomontage images from ten photographic series both nationally and internationally in twenty one solo exhibitions and over seventy group exhibitions.
Tom’s photography is held in the collections throughout the world, and published in multiple publications and books. A retrospective book, Hearts and Bones, was released in the Fall of 2018, by Unicorn Publishing, London.
