Juror's Statement

It was absolutely delightful to review such an amazing group of photographs which displayed a range of styles, interpretations, content, and genres of photographic explorations. Prominent considerations that tied my selections together were the artists' personal visions, their ability to create and define our contemporary lives through their photographs.

The artists whose photographs are highlighted here inspired me because many were not bonded to photographic traditions of the past, whether exterior or interior space, landscapes, or portraits. These photographers have all successfully conveyed inspiring and unique perspectives on our contemporary world with their voices.

Call for Entries

PhotoPlace Gallery is pleased to welcome Kyohei Abe as the juror for the third annual PhotoPlace Open Call. For Open Call 2012, he selected forty photos for exhibition at PhotoPlace Gallery. He also chose an additional thirty-five photos for the gallery's "Online Annex." All selected work will be included in a full-color exhibition catalog available for purchase.
